About Us

About Us

Beacon Lifesaving Club offers children from all ages (who can already swim) the chance to gain some skills which will enable them to save lives both in water and on land. We work from the "Rookie Lifeguard and Survive and Save Scheme" which is explained in more detail on the RLSS website and on the "Awards" section of our webpage.

What Next?

From there, swimmers can lead on to more competitive lifesaving with the chance to complete their Bronze Medallion and enter county competitions.

There is a chance to train with us over three evenings a week, with all of our teachers having the necessary qualifications to take you through the awards.

Opportunities!

This will be a great opportunity for swimmers to learn vital life skills. This will also provide them with the ability to save other peoples lives and more importantly if needed, how to save their own.

Training, Awards and Certifications

Training & Awards

Beacon Lifesaving club offer a variety of awards for its members. We currently work of two main schemes, those being; Rookie Lifesaving and the Survive and Save Programme. Many of our swimmers then progress in the future to completing the National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification.

Rookie Lifesaving

The Rookie Lifeguard programme is aimed primarily at children from eight years old and above.

The course, which has been designed by water safety specialists at RLSS UK, is designed to ensure that every child in the country as essential water skills to keep themselves safe and give them knowledge of what to do in an emergency.

The Programme features swimming and lifesaving skills supported by water safety education, allowing participants to enjoy swimming as an activity and vitally to protect their lives should an accident occur in the water.

Survive and Save Awards

RLSS UK’s Survive & Save Programme is the lifesaving awards programme for teens and adults (12years+). The awards are challenging but fun to complete and they are arranged into Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to ensure that you continue to develop your lifesaving skills as you progress through the awards.

The awards teach lifesaving rescue, self-rescue, survival, lifesaving sport skills and also develop swimming ability and fitness.

There are four award areas to achieve, the Medallion Awards, the Beach Awards, the Stillwater Awards and the Sport Awards and you can choose to specialise in one area or learn a broader range of skills by completing multiple awards.
